Share Your Story
Your Experience Could Change Another Parent's Life
Motherhood Diaries has always been written by parents who have gone through it. If something happened on your journey, chances are another parent needs to read it. You don't need to be a writer. You just need to be honest.
Contributor voice
Why share
authentic stories over perfect prose.
Readers come for lived experience, not polished performance. This section sets the tone for the kind of stories that create trust.
Why share your story?
You're not alone - and neither are they
- That traumatic birth experience you're still processing? Someone else needs to know they're not the only one.
- That fertility struggle you've been quietly enduring? Another person is googling at 2am feeling hopeless.
- That postpartum anxiety you're too scared to talk about? Someone else is suffering in silence.
Your story matters. Your voice matters. Your truth matters.
The power of real stories
We do not do perfect Instagram parenting here. We do real, raw, honest accounts of what this journey actually looks like:
- The fertility struggles that took years
- The births that didn't go to plan
- The postpartum realities nobody warns you about
- The parenting wins and spectacular fails
- The mental health battles fought in silence
- The relationships that changed
- The bodies that transformed
- The identities that shifted
When you share your story, you give someone else permission to share theirs. You create connection. You break isolation. You save someone from feeling alone in their darkest moment.
Story lanes
What can you write about?
Almost anything related to the preconception, pregnancy and parenting journey, as long as it really happened to you. Some ideas are:
the everyday moments readers search for.
Pick the lane that best fits your story. We prioritize useful, specific experiences over generic advice.
Fertility and the road to conception.
Pregnancy, week by week.
Birth stories of every kind
planned, unplanned, and nothing-like-the-plan.
Postnatal life
mental health, feeding, relationships, work, toddlers, teenagers.
Expert Content
Are you a healthcare provider, doula, lactation consultant, therapist, or other professional working with families? We welcome expert articles that educate and support parents.
We don't publish sales pitches, judgment of other parents' choices, or medical advice - personal experience only please!

Process
How it works
simple steps, collaborative editing.
You don’t need a newsroom background. We guide structure, tighten clarity, and preserve your voice.
Step 1
Send your story in
whether it’s a finished story or a rough idea. Please make it 500 words or more, in your own voice.
Step 2
We tidy, you approve.
Our editors polish for clarity, never for personality. Nothing goes live without your say-so.
Step 3
Your story goes out
and is published on MD, and if you want us to, shared across our channels, with a profile and links to your blog or socials if you'd like one.
Step 4
Want to stay anonymous? No problem at all.
Many of our most-read stories about loss, birth trauma, and mental health are published under pen names. We will never reveal your identity without your permission.
Expectations
