There are some products you have in your house that becomes your staple to help you survive the daily multitude of tasks you have every day. I am a big believer of getting help from innovative products, so I have taken to JML, the website that aims to make everyday easier for families, to find products that will help me deal with my neverending house chores, including feeding the kid.! Here is my review of four of JML’s products:
The BPA Free JML Poppin’ Corn Microwave Popcorn Maker is designed for you to enjoy your favourite snack in under two minutes. You simply add around 30g of popcorn kernels into the red pot, close the transparent lid into place and then pop the pot into the microwave for around 90 seconds (although we found most of the popcorn kernels would pop in two minutes). When the popcorn is popped, you simply open the lid and enjoy directly from the Poppin’ Corn bowl, with your own seasonings added for a new delicious taste every time.

Dishwasher safe – to clean just take out the Poppin corn and place the separate parts into the top rack of the dishwasher.
You don’t need to add anything extra like butter or oil
The double walled design makes the pot cool to touch after microwaving

How to make the popcorn
Pour in around 30g of popcorn kernels to the Poppin’ Corn and shake well.
Put the lid on and place in the microwave on high for 90 seconds (or according to your microwave’s strength)
If you hear the pops slow down to 1 to 2 per second, then your popcorn is ready
Take the Poppin’ Corn out of the microwave, pop open the lid and enjoy with your favourite seasoning.
Some kernels will not pop which is normal
Our Opinion
It’s a great design for a quick popcorn snack. However, we found it tricky to slide the lid open and close when using. Sometimes the popcorn kernels burned because there were a good few amounts of unpopped kernels left. I would recommend microwaving for around two minutes for an 800w Microwave and giving it a good shake after one minute before popping it back in the microwave. Other than that, it’s a useful small tool for the kitchen, and you don’t need to add butter or oil too, which makes the popcorn even healthier.

Rating: 4/5 – It’s a nifty idea to encourage healthier snacks for kids who don’t have time to wait. In under two minutes, they have a snack they can enjoy from, so no wastage and no extra washing up!
Aero 360 Pro
“Dries and irons your clothes all at once” JML
The Aero 360 Pro is designed to dry and iron your clothes straight from the washing machine, without the need for tumble drying, ironing or steaming. Just place the damp clothes over the inflatable bag like you would put it on a hanger and add a few weight clips, then turn it on. The hot air circulates around the bag using an inbuilt fan, which inflates the bag and fills your shirt, tee shirt, jumper or even suit jacket. The heat and tension push the creases out so that you don’t need to iron the shirt afterwards. The Aero 360 Pro aims to speed up the long process of drying and ironing a shirt and saves you money on dry cleaning bills for suits and shirts, by doing it all at once. How to use:
Plug the Telescopic rod into the recess on the top of the Motor unit
Place the Hanger onto the Telescopic rod – make sure that the slight bend in the Hanger points forwards
Attach the Nylon balloon:
Pull it over the Hanger – makes sure that the side with the hole line points forwards
Pull the Small elastic rod at the top, over the collar section on the Hanger
Pull the Large elastic cord at the bottom over the Mounting flange
The device is dissembled in reverse order
Set the height that you want by opening the clip and pulling out the telescopic rod, then closing the lip again
Pull on the Nylon balloon which should sit immediately below the Mounting flange so that it can fully inflate
Pull the garment which is to be pressed over the Nylon balloon and the Hanger and do up the buttons if necessary. Make sure that the collar is fitted over the hole on the Nylon balloon and the arms fit correctly in the sleeves, so they are not twisted or scrunched up.
Spread the clamps along the bottom so that it is weighted down and will not go out of shape when the Nylon balloon is inflated
Plug the Aero 360 Pro in and turn the timer clockwise. Set it to the length of time that you want. Each LED light represents five minutes
Once the Nylon balloon has inflated, straighten out the garment and smooth it down again.
When the set time elapses, the device will turn off automatically. You can stop the process at any time by turning the timer to the starting position
Remove the garment from the Nylon balloon and Hanger and allow the device to cool down completely.

Our Opinion
I have two boys who attend school and a husband who goes to work, so washing, drying and ironing three sets of shirts take up so much of my time. Plus I hate ironing, so I found this Aero 360 Pro to be a time saver for me. You can literally place the shirt on the device, dry it and then the shirt can be used straight away. I found the Aero 360 Pro really easy to use and the LED timer is a useful tool to check how long your shirt has got left to dry. I did find that the humidity in the air increased, but just pop open a window when using and you’ll be fine. I would place a towel under the Aero 360 Pro as well, as there may be excess water from the garment on the floor. The only issue I would say it has is the cost to run as the device uses up a lot of electricity. Smaller sized shirts can also be challenging to steam as they’re hard to clip to the sizeable inflatable bag. Other than that, I’d definitely recommend if you hate ironing and want to save time on your laundry chores.
Rating: 4/5 – Expensive but a timesaver and as I’m a working mum, the latter is more critical for me.

Our opinion
We have three bins in our house, for separating and recycling so we thought it would be better to mount this Trash Tidy onto our drawer’s wall, next to where the bins sit. Also if the bin bag happens to leak then the Trash Tidy would be dirty, so we just figured it would be better to keep it away from the bins, even though that was what the Trash Tidy’s purpose was for. It’s great value for money, especially as the Trash Tidy came with 15 bin liners too, which are strong and sturdy. The Trash Tidy was easy to mount onto the wall, and the bin liners came out quite quickly, without ripping. It is definitely a great tool for storing bin bags, so they’re not amongst all the other riff-raff in the kitchen.
Rating: 5/5 – The price is affordable, and the Trash Tidy does its job of keeping bin bags safe and secure to access.

Our opinion
Rating: 3/5 – The Pheonix Gold FreeFlight Iron glides easily onto clothes, and the fact that it is cordless makes it easy to iron in any direction. However, I found the plate getting very dirty quickly and the water tank kept leaking onto the clothes which was frustrating at times. It doesn’t stay hot for long as well, so you have to keep putting it back on its mount to heat up. Other than that it’s a good iron.
Rating: 3/5 – The FastFit Ironing Board Cover Ultimate was too big for my ironing board, so it slipped off a lot when ironing, which is frustrating. However, if it did fit then I would see this as a good sturdy cover to hold the heat of an iron. It’s just a shame it doesn’t sit properly on my ironing board.
Rating: 4/5 – The Ironing Genie is a useful, simple design and it does help to keep the sleeves crease free and flat. However, I found myself forgetting to use it and so if you have it, it’s great to use. If not, I don’t think you’d miss it.
Overall, the JML products I reviewed were useful tools in the house, and I did find myself saving time when using these products. My favourite of the four was the Aero 360 Pro, which helped me save time on drying and ironing shirts. This meant that I didn’t require the Phoenix Gold FreeFlight Bundle as much and the Ironing Genie was forgotten about. The JML Poppin’ Corn Microwave Popcorn Maker is a great tool for making popcorn snacks for the kids, and so I use this all the time.

Royal Lancaster London Hotel Review
I’ve mentioned in previous articles that my boys have travelled abroad quite a few times in their short 6 and 7 years. But where we have been lacking is holidaying in the UK, mostly due to the temperamental British weather, which clouds the fact that the UK boasts an abundance of mini-packages specially built for families. And, its capital city, London, is one of, if not the most touristic place to travel to in the world. Funnily enough, London is literally on our doorstep too!

The Royal Lancaster London was recently renovated for £85 million, and the prestigious hotel that overlooks Hyde Park has been completely transformed, both inside and out. The front part of the hotel now features a dramatic 8-metre high glazed façade and an impressive double-height reception space.
“The hotel has had a rich and celebrated past, having opened as one of the chicest hotels in London in 1967. 50 years later, Royal Lancaster London will reopen in 2017 to once again be one of the most stylish hotels in the capital. Our Thai owner, Khun Jatuporn Sihanatkathakul has been directly involved in the new design which exudes mid-century glamour and understated elegance synonymous with London. We are looking forward to the next 50 years.” Sally Beck, General Manager of the Royal Lancaster London
The lobby has a sweeping staircase which is made of 300 square metres of white Carrara marble. Champagne and cocktails, as well as coffee and cuisine, are served throughout the day, and the 18-storey hotel encompasses a refurbishment of all 411 guestrooms and suites.
Every guest room boasts a beautiful view of London, which overlooks the greenery of Hyde Park and most of the famous landmarks in London. The Duty Manager at The Royal Lancaster mentioned to us that around 3 months before New Year’s Eve events, the rooms get booked up so that people have a first class view of the fireworks when the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Day. Can you imagine how that would look from the 15th floor!?
It was a beautifully clear, but relatively chilly day and the boys had been raring to go since 6am. We parked up at a nearby spot, which we had found from Parkopedia, right in the heart of affluent London, next to Hyde Park. You could spot The Royal Lancaster from afar, amongst the roadworks and other building works still happening at the hotel.
As you walk into the hotel, you do feel like you are walking into a 5-star hotel. The renovations are evident amongst the spacious marble floors and the high top ceiling lights. There was plenty of concierges around to take our luggage, and as I discussed the details of our stay with the reception desk, the boys waited patiently in the beautifully spacious lobby area.
Upon arrival, the boys were given Paddington Bear, and the reception manager explained that Paddington Bear had come to visit from Paddington Train Station which is only a 6-minute walk to the hotel. To this day, Paddington has not left their side!
We followed the lovely reception manager to our rooms, which were on the 15th floor. Hubby and I got our own room. 1510, while the boys had their private room, 1508. We were massively surprised by the generosity of the complimentary stay and couldn’t believe that we each had conjoining rooms. The manager showed us how to use the simple keycard mechanism and then showed us around the place, where we could find the amenities.
As soon as we entered the room we were taken aback at how light and spacious the room felt and, of course, the breathtaking views!
The boys didn’t waste any time settling in, while we had the chance to take a look around the rooms. The TVs in each room offers over 138 international channels and 33 radio stations, so the boys found the football channel quite easily!
We were shown where the Nespresso machine and drawer full of cookies, milk and other complimentary items were and each room was greeted with some lovely sweet treats welcoming us to the Royal Lancaster Hotel (the adults received an extra special gift in the form of a delicious bottle of red wine, which hubby and I enjoyed later!) Hubby fell in love with the couch at the end of the bed, and so did the boys who amused themselves, leaping from the sofa onto the bed and vice versa. And because of space, it meant that they were able to do so without causing any injury! I learned to look the other way on this occasion…
I got myself settled on my makeshift office desk for the weekend, right next to the handy phone. The travel handy is quite an exciting piece of gadget. You can make unlimited calls, and it’s packed full of ideas on how to make the best use of your time in London as a tourist.
Each guest room has hidden international plug sockets, which means you don’t have to carry your own with you. Mirrors are placed strategically around the room to make the place feel bigger and brighter, and each is equipped with a day and night blinds. There were also little switches located by the side of the bed which enabled you to switch on a night light if you needed to make a bathroom pit stop in the middle of the night. I found this particularly helpful for the boys who were able to see the bathroom quickly and prevent accidents. It also meant that one wouldn’t wake the other either.
We had booked dinner for 6.30pm so I figured it would also be a good idea to get breakfast sorted early too. We like to eat breakfast in peace, so we always order breakfast to our room. It also means that if the boys do anything embarrassing over breakfast, no one is around to see it.
Each guest are also provided their own bathrobe and slippers (even kiddie sized for the kids) and lovely The White Company toiletries to accompany the waterfall showers and underfloor heating in the bathrooms. Honestly, I could have lived in the bathroom, it was so cosy!
The Gym
Before we were scheduled to head down to dinner, I thought I’d try out the gym services located on the 2nd floor (which I always do) and was pleased to see that I had the entire gym to myself.
Lovely and spacious, the gym was kitted out with state of the art machines, including a row of treadmills, bikes, and cross trainers. And there was a rather sizeable mat area to exercise with weights too, as well as complimentary water and towels. Each machine boasted its own Technogym equipment, which meant that you could watch TV, play games, listen to the radio or your own music connected by Bluetooth. You could even work out while imagining you were outdoors, by selecting the screen you wanted, for example, a route by the beach, mountain climbing or skiing. I tried all of these settings and found that it was just easier to listen to my music while watching TV with subtitles.
After the gym, I had a lovely hot shower under the standing waterfall shower which was amazing! I loved the products so much they smelled lovely and left my skin feeling really soft and smooth. After that, we all got ready to head down to dinner because we were starving at this point.
Nipa Thai Restaurant
Ready to tuck into some 5-star Thai food, which we could smell on the way from our room, we headed around the corner to be greeted by the restaurant manager. You can opt for different types of cuisines at the Royal Lancaster, including the classic Island Grill. But as the boys had never eaten Thai before, we figured we would introduce them to not just any Thai Restaurant but an award-winning 5-star Thair restaurant with ethically sourced authentic Thai food.
The first stage of The Royal Lancaster’s refurbishment was with the redesign of Nipa Thai back in 2015. Nipa Thai is located on the first floor and offers a holistic experience, with the refreshing smell of essential Lemongrass oil that permeates the restaurant.
The 55-seated restaurant offers a teak panelled interior with traditional Thai furniture and ornate décor crafted in Thailand. Each of the traditional cuisines is prepared by the Head Chef Sanguan Parr and her dedicated team of all female kitchen staff.
At 6.30pm the restaurant was quiet, and the couple next to us looked in horror when they saw our family of four seated right next to them. So, for the first half an hour we were unable to relax and kept nitpicking at the boys to sit straight, be quiet and act gentlemanly. We were grateful to start seeing people flock in at around 7pm as the restaurant became louder and more animated. We could relax a bit, and, in fact, the boys were on their best behaviour, so we felt quite bad about what we were like with them at the beginning. In hindsight, it was the best behaviour we had ever seen from them at the restaurant! Our nagging paid off!
There are no kids menus available at Nipa Thai so we just went for it and ordered a set list of what we thought the kids would eat. We ordered the Suriyan Menu for us, which contained the following:
Ruam Mitr – a selection of Chef’s individual Thai starters)
Tom Kha Koong – Coconut and lime based soup that included prawns, lime leaf galangal and lemongrass,
Kaeng Massaman Kai – Chicken, onions and baby potatoes in well-cooked coconut milk and Massaman Curry Paste,
Phad Kra Prao Pla – Crisp Fried Seabass with aromatic coriander, chillies and fired holy basil,
Phad Pak Ruam Mitr – which was friend mixed vegetables
Kao Suay – Thai Jasmine rice
Ice Tim Ka Ti – Coconut Ice Cream
Kafae Rue Cha – Coffee or Tea
It was quite a lot of food. The appetisers consisted of spring rolls, dumplings, chicken satay, prawn crackers, and a tray of sweet sauces. The peanut sauce was absolutely delicious. The first course was soup with a coconut cream based sauce with lime and 3 main dishes, jasmine rice, mixed vegetables, i.e. broccoli, mini sweetcorn, coconut-based chicken, and sea bass, which had a bit of a kick to it. The dish that had chicken that came from the bone was a firm favourite amongst all the boys, but the peanut sauce for me was the winner. It was ridiculously good!
For the boys, we ordered Chicken Pad Thai and rice noodles, which were a big hit, and fish cakes, which were too spicy. The boys got to try a bit of everything also, and their overall reaction to Thai food was a huge success. They ended their meal with Ice Tim Kluay Tod, which was Crunchy fried banana topped with honey and vanilla ice cream. It was a rather sizeable dessert dish so I was amazed to see that they had finished everything on their plates. We had our lovely coconut ice cream served in a coconut shell, which was delicious as well. We especially loved the coconut flakes inside the ice cream too.
Nipa Thai, although, upmarket in its appearance, was a lovely comfortable and cosy setting which the boys enjoyed taking in, especially the decorative ornaments on the shelves, which looked like Thai deities or gods. The only issue we had was that our youngest, Aidan, accidentally bit off some glass from his extra thin glass of water. And, even though it was his fault technically for messing around with the glass, we had expected more of a commotion from the wait staff, as the broken glass had gone into his mouth. We had no idea whether he had swallowed it or if it had fallen somewhere else.
Overall the food was absolutely delicious, and I would recommend anyone who loves Thai food to try out Nipa Thai without fail. You won’t be disappointed! Click here for more information on Nipa Thai and its authentic food offerings.
I ended up chatting to our neighbouring table, and all three boys got bored, so they ran around the lobby area and had their picture taken until my youngest had to come and get me, so they could go back to the hotel room to shower and get ready for bed.

The boys got to enjoy a lovely bath in their own private bathroom while I lounged on the bed watching TV and drinking tea. It was so nice to relax without having the noise of the kids to break me out of my mellow mood
It didn’t last long though…
After a bit more jumping around the boys were ready for bed. However, as soon as they got into bed, they couldn’t sleep. Overtired and excited from the day’s events, they decided to work out how all the lights next to their bed worked, and it took us a good few hours to settle them before they were actually able to pass out. It was around 11pm!

Nevertheless, it was a comfortable night, and we all slept like logs. I planned to go to the gym before breakfast, but I was having so much fun relaxing in our comfy bed that I decided to stay in bed until breakfast came. And, wow, there was a lot of food!
We had literally ordered everything on the menu, thinking they would come out in small portions. We were wrong.
At around 11.30am, we packed our belongings, said goodbye to our home for 2 days and headed home with lots of beautiful memories of spending some real quality time together as a family for a change and being waited on like VIP.
What did everyone like about The Royal Lancaster Room?

Upon exit of the Royal Lancaster, the duty manager approached us with a little bag of chocolates and a card that requested we review our stay at Tripadvisor. As The Royal Lancaster is an independent hotel, reviews mean a lot, so we will be reviewing our stay because we enjoyed it so much!
I would say the only negative thing to comment on was that complimentary water was a little on the low side. I had to keep calling to ask for more which I don’t like doing. Perhaps, it would be nice to stock 1.5l or 2l bottles of water in the room, as we used most of our smaller bottles for making tea.

Once you’ve sorted out the image on the front, go to the back side of the pillow. If you are adding an image to the back, then click the right arrow to ‘Continue to Upload Images’. In this section you can choose to upload your image either from your Computer, Gallery, Facebook or Instagram. When you have finished uploading your image, you will be taken to the Palette Colour Option, but this is only for the back side if you have chosen to use a block colour. You won’t see the colour palette if you are adding a personalised photo on this side. You also have the option of adding text to your pillow, if you wanted to. Finally, you can preview your pillow and if you’re happy, click save and add to your Cart. You should receive your personalised photo pillow within 3 to 10 business days.

So how did the Personalised Photo Cushions turn out?
Interestingly, the photo cushions arrived in a pink bin with the pillow squashed inside and the cover separate (also squashed). I was initially confused as to why CanvasChamp™ sent the pillow in this way because it meant that the cover was creased. However, when I took the pillow out of the pink bin (which I’m now using as my food bin) and placed the cover over the pillow, the shape of the pillow ironed out the creases.
I am not entirely convinced that the cushion is made of expensive material, but the overall look was pleasing to the eye and I would be happy to send one of these personalised cushions as a Christmas gift to a valued family member or friend.

What did I think of the personalised canvas?
I am impressed with the sturdiness that the thin MFI board at the back of the canvas provides. It means that you’re less likely to poke a hole through the front by accident when propping up against the wall. I would suggest you pick the lamination option so that the quality comes out as best as it can get, but at its most basic setting, the picture quality is great, and I think my dad will be very happy to receive this canvas as his birthday gift.
What do I think of CanvasChamp™?
CanvasChamp™ is quite widely used around the world and so has already built up a reputation for quality and reliability. I would say that more care can be taken in the presentation of the photo cushions. But, at least there is a multi-purpose to the bin they provide. I’m more impressed with the sturdiness of the canvas which I haven’t seen when purchasing from other companies. I also found the multitude of options available to you online easy to use and ideal when you are trying to make your gift as unique as possible. Feel Good Contacts Review– cheapest online contact lenses
I am a long-term contact lens and glasses wearer – I started wearing glasses at around 12 years old and then contact lenses at 16. So, I’ve spent more than half my life wearing corrective lenses. Considering I’ve spent about £25 per box every month, that is… hold on, let me work out the total amount… approximately £12,000 on contact lenses so far!
Now, considering I change my prescription glasses every few years or so and each pair of glasses costs, on average, £400 minimum, I have spent around £4,800 on glasses thus far. Plus, as I have Myopia (short-sightedness) and Astigmatism (distorted vision at all distances), I have to wear special contact lenses and glasses, which cranks the price up even further.
The brand of contact lenses I used to wear was Johnson & Johnson 1 Day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism*, which normally costs me around £25 to £40 per box, depending on where I buy the contact lenses online. Why kids love Thomas & Friends’ new Trackmaster Playset
Those of you with Thomas & Friends obsessive little fans in the house may know that there was a new film out recently called Thomas & Friends Journey Beyond Sodor (DVD will be released on 16th October). Unfortunately, the boys (aged 5 and 6 years old) who have been massive Thomas & Friends fans since they were old enough to use their motor skills, didn’t get the chance to catch the film in the cinemas, but we’ll be holding out for the DVD next month. Whenever the boys start their Thomas & Friends role play journeys, they delve so deep into the world of the different characters and personalities in Sodor that it’s hard to bring them back to reality. The boys have all the trains in the Thomas & Friends family and so they continuously make up wondrous adventures that involve friendships, breakups, rescues, and teamwork to get the job done!

Eager to rip open the Thomas & Friends track set and start building, the boys got right down to it, meticulously opening every bag and examining the instructions before they started their engineering.
There was a bit of frustration, trying to understand the instructions and so the boys tossed the leaflet to the side and got on with building the track via the box’s diagram. It was a bit of a slow start, but finally, they got the hang of it.
I was so impressed with the line of communication with them both, working perfectly as a team to work out what was provided in the box and where each part went. Aron (my eldest) even took the role of project manager and expertly instructed Aidan on which part went where.
The Trackmaster was taking shape and even I started to get excited, seeing the boys work so beautifully together to build a rather complex track actually!
Finally, after about 30 minutes, the Trackmaster was built and the boys were so happy with their creation.
Out came the whole Thomas & Friends family to try out the new super-duper track.
What do we think of the new Thomas & Friends Trackmaster Play Set?
Once the track is built, you fire Steelworks Thomas up with two AAA batteries and then you watch him chugging along the track transporting cogs to and fro. There is a bridge that he goes over before the cogs drop into his cargo carrier. Then a mechanical arm grabs the cogs further along the track. It’s amazing to see how much fun it is for the boys to watch Thomas and his friends riding along the tracks because to me it’s just watching a train ride around the track. The good thing is that the boys own more Trackmaster sets and so they can build to the track if they wanted to and add more friends. The learning through play here comes from building rather than watching because there isn’t really much for the kids to do but watch the trains go after they’ve built the track. The real effort comes from making the track in the first place and I really enjoyed seeing the boys work together meticulously to build the new Trackmaster set, then add additional tracks from other Trackmaster sets and expansion packs as well.

Teksta Micro-Pets Adventure Park Playset – Teksta Dinosaur Product Review
The boys have been huge fans of Teksta pets since they first came out and have been continuously on at my hubby and I to buy one of the robotic pets, ever since I can remember! Well, finally we were afforded the chance to review a new Teksta Micro-pets from Character Online, which is a much smaller version than the classic Teksta pets.
Robotic pets really don’t come much cuter than these miniature pets that respond to your touch and voice and can be trained on their playsets! The eyes light up and they run around and make cute noises, so they can act as a test pet before the boys are allowed a real puppy when they’re older.

The Teksta Micro-Pets Adventure Park Playset* has a RRP of £19.99 and there are four cool characters plus playsets to collect, including the Kitty, Racoon, Dinosaur and Puppy, which was the set that we reviewed. The snap pieces can be put together in many different ways, so there is no limit to how you want the track to look!
The boys really enjoyed piecing the tracks together (which includes a bridge) and clapping their hands to activate the puppy to move. There was even a little ball, which the puppy faithfully chased around on the track that we had set out in front of him. The puppy’s eyes light up every time you make a noise, so it does really feel like this puppy has a true personality. You can also transform the tracks into a wheel and watch your puppy go, which was pretty brilliant to look at – the puppy really goes for it!

Best of British – The Supermarket, 1000pc
The boys (4 and 6 years old) and I loved this puzzle because it is so colourful and full of detail. This ‘CheapoSave’ supermarket epitomises the true experience that you receive when visiting a British superstore. There is so much to look at and lots of funny and amusing scenarios, which us Brits have experienced at a British supermarket at some point. The image reminds me of an Asda Walmart, a Costco or a Macro store, where you can find absolutely anything you need within the building and you get to witness people from all walks of life.

Vintage Travel, 500pc
The boys and I loved this vintage travel jigsaw. We enjoyed finding all the text first and piecing them together before working out the book edges for each respective country. This is such a beautiful and colourful jigsaw puzzle with very interesting travel guides. Again, the premium grade cardboard is such high quality and contains a linen finish which minimises glare on the puzzle image. Also, when you pick up a bunch of pieces, they don’t just fall apart in your hand. You can transport a group of pieces together and combine with the rest of the puzzle.

Gold Edition Country Cottage 300pc – with large pieces
This gold edition country cottage puzzle is a little bit different to the others as the pieces are larger, which makes them easier for kids to handle. Although, still a challenge, this timber framed English country cottage and garden in spring was a delight to complete and the boys had a great time, especially, piecing all the flowers together. It’s such a lovely colourful jigsaw with, again, premium grade cardboard and linen finish print to minimise glare.

Ravensburger Big Ben Silhouette Puzzle Review
My 5-year-old absolutely loves jigsaw puzzles and can pretty much breeze through 200-piece jigsaws at an alarming rate. So, I decided to up the stakes and challenge him and the rest of the family to build a 1,155-piece puzzle that was not just over 1 metre tall, but irregular shaped, so that the finished piece resembled London’s Big Ben.

Ravensburger have always been my favourite of all puzzle manufacturers because they have a huge range of jigsaw puzzles that suit all characters, as well as very educational games that can be enjoyed at home and as part of continued learning at school.
This particular Ravensburger jigsaw puzzle was a real headscratcher. There were no corners to start off with, so we were not able to follow our standard, find-all-the-corners-first rule. We then opted to look for all the flat edged pieces, which also proved more challenging than normal. Some pieces needed inside pieces to connect, so that rule was also thrown out. We ended up grouping the pieces by colour and we were off to a very slow start.
I noticed that some of the pieces also resembled famous London landmark’s, which I thought was a great touch. However, we were quarter of the way through when an accident happened and all the pieces fell to the floor. We are now tackling Big Ben again and will share an image as soon as we have completed it.
Ravensburger’s jigsaw puzzles have always been a favourite of mine, as mentioned earlier, but not just because of their versatility, but the quality of cardboard used is high and durable enough for little hands. It is easy to tell when a piece fits together, which helps you to progress along the puzzle, especially with challenging jigsaws like the Big Ben Silhouette puzzle.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable puzzle to work on together as a family. We are now completing the puzzle on top of our 1,000-piece travel jigsaw board to prevent any accidents happening again and we are most likely going to laminate and hang this jigsaw puzzle up on our wall when we have finished. The finished look is just awesome.
Rating: 4.5/5 – 0.5 is lost on the fact that the pieces can be removed quite easily, so when transporting a group of jigsaw pieces to the final puzzle, sometimes they are broken up before they get there, which is quite frustrating. Apart from that, we all thoroughly recommend Ravensburger for all your jigsaw puzzle needs. There is so much to choose from, it was be nigh on impossible to find something you didn’t like on the website. They make for perfect Christmas gifts too!
Canderel Sugarly Taste Test Challenge – Includes Lemon & Blueberry Cheesecake and Vanilla & Raspberry Cupcake recipes
Mindlab International recently conducted a study on the brain activity of a group of participants when they were faced with treats prepared with sweetener and with sugar. Results showed that in a number of tests, the participants actually found the treats prepared with sweetener more desirable and in all other measures of brain activity, the sweetener performed just as well as the sugar.
So, Canderel challenged Motherhood Diaries to make two batches of the Lemon & Blueberry Cheesecake and two batches of the Vanilla & Raspberry Cupcakes, where one batch contained sweetener and the other with sugar. The test was to find out whether my family could, (a) tell the difference and (b) prefer the taste of either sugar or sweetener. So, let the challenges begin!
It was a unanimous verdict. Canderel Sugarly won! Using Canderel Sugarly meant I used half of the quantity of sugar and the sweetness still shone through in both of the above recipes. Plus, they weren’t as sickly sweet as the sugar alternatives, which meant that Canderel Sugarly is just as good a contender in decadent desserts than using normal caster sugar.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Canderel Taste Test and I urge you to give it a try. Swap your sugar ingredients for Canderel Sugarly and remember to use only half the amount because it’s very sweet!
