10 Items Every Children’s Birthday Party Should Contain – Vertbaudet’s Party in a Box
The only parties I have organised since my boys were born into this world, were their first birthday parties. More adults than children attended and they all left with adult party bags that contained cupcakes, some chocolates, and a thank you card.
When I received Vertbaudet’s awesome ‘Party in a Box’ for both of my boys (thank you Vertbaudet!), I was really excited to start preparing for a party. Unfortunately, Aidan’s 2nd birthday had just passed and Aron’s 4th birthday is 7 months away. So, I’ve decided to talk about the party items included in the box that I believe are vital for every kids’ party and save the items for a big Christmas/birthday bash this December (although we still managed to enjoy some of the items with the family at our summer barbecue last week. ;-))
Vertbaudet’s Party in a Box – items
1. Birthday poster for Aron and Aidan
Vertbaudet provided lovely cards, displaying Aron and Aidan’s date of births and some funky drawings, which the boys loved. I shall be keeping these for when they have their respective birthdays.
2. Children’s party templates for flags (5 paper templates – Blue Polka Dots, Pink Polka Dots, Yellow Polka Dots, Green Stripe, Pink Stripe)
Easy party templates are always fun to make with the children before the party starts and they create a unique homely character to the whole party. The templates above are for make-it-yourself flags to hang up around the party room or to play with outside.
How to make Vertbaudet’s Party Flags
Items needed
- Template
- Scissors
- Some string
- Some glue (Pritt Stick should suffice)
Step 1 – Print out Template (in our case, we were provided with the templates already).
Step 2 – Cut around the dashed line
Step 3 – Get your string and fold the template in half over the string, gluing the inside to secure the string.
Step 4 – Repeat Step 3, ensuring you equally space the flags along the string.
3. Add your own letters
Personalise signage and labels with Vertbaudet’s ‘Add your own letters’ templates. Very easy to use and fancy enough to make a difference.
4. Paper Plates and Cups
Every party needs crockery and breakable crockery has no place at a children’s party. Hence Vertbaudet’s cool collection of green and white polka dotted plastic plates and cups for our special party. As we had no special parties planned, we organised a barbecue at my parent’s house (as they were away on holiday) and invited our close family. We got to use the plastic paper cups and plates and it saved us on the washing up too!
5. Sweets!
Tiny snack-sized sweets are the best, i.e. Love Hearts, Fizzlers, Fruit Salad chews etc, as you can dart them around the table or hide them in presents, party bags and around the room for treasure hunt games. Vertbaudet provided a generous portion of sweets, which I had to hide from the boys to stop them from overdosing on sugar. But, hubby and I ended up scoffing quite a bit of the sweets as my ultimate favourites are the Love Hearts and the Fizzlers, yum!
6. Party outfits (The boys each received a cool T-shirt)
You need to look cool at a party, be it fancy princess outfits or smart clothes for the boys. Vertbaudet sent the boys quality looking T-shirts, which fit them very well.
7. Stickers
Stickers are a staple accessory to any kids’ party as the children can have fun sticking them to their pressies, cards and themselves (see picture above!) Vertbaudet provided the boys with some sparkly stickers to suit all occasions and the boys got to work sticking them on themselves and each other. 🙂
8. Hand-sized game accessories to add to party bags (Happy Birthday party bags, duck whistles, spin tops and whistle lollipops)
Every party isn’t complete without a generous party bag to hand out to guests at the end of the party. Vertbaudet has provided us with lots of fab items to add to the party bag, including 8 ‘Happy Birthday’ party bags, duck whistles, whistle lollipops, spinning tops and a lip whistle, all for the kids to take home. The boys had so much fun trying everything out and now I hear those duck whistles in my sleep!
9. Pin the Tail on the Donkey (includes template cut-outs of a donkey, some tails, and a black mask)
An age old game that’s suitable for both kids and adults! Vertbaudet supplied us with a large template, complete with tails, a donkey, and a black mask. I decided to keep this template for when we celebrate one of the boys’ birthdays, but the boys got their hands on the black mask and broke the string within 30 seconds. I’ll just have to bring out one of my sleep masks then…
10. Plenty of guests, young and old!
It’s all well and good that you’ve kitted out a great party, but if you don’t have any guests, who will be there to enjoy all of the above? Invite young and old at children’s birthday parties, that way, the adults can get ‘merry’ and enjoy the games with the kids, and the kids get to socialise with each other and play lots of games. It’s a lovely way to get the whole family together too.
