My 1st Years Xylophones Product Review
Personalised, timeless gifts are always a fantastic way to show someone you love them and personalising your children’s gifts will mean that they can treasure these gifts for life. When Motherhood Diaries was offered the chance to review some products from the ‘My 1st Years’ range, as a bona fide musician, I decided to review the Personalised Wooden Xylophone for my two boys. Here is how we got on:

What is My 1st Years all about?
My 1st Years was founded in January 2010, when the founders realised that they couldn’t find anything unique enough as the perfect baby gift. They found a gap in the huge baby market for a new company that could provide lovely baby gifts that were unique, fashionable and affordable.

When we received our personalised wooden xylophones, I was immediately impressed by the beautiful packaging, which was a lovely baby blue, dressed with a cute white bow.
It’s clear that My 1st Years understands how important the packaging is as well as the product itself, as these personalised gifts are given to that special someone, so it’s worth making the effort to present the product I think.
The boys were very eager to open their magical gift boxes and were a little perplexed at this colourful wooden instrument that was waiting for them inside the box.
Unsure of what to do, I took the wooden xylophones, personalised with their names and showed them how to ‘play’ the xylophones using the two sticks provided. Even though it is clearly stated that these items are not musical instruments intended for educational use, it would have been nice for them to be tuned in order to play them. The boys had a great time bashing their high quality wooden instruments, but I was secretly miffed that I couldn’t show off my musical skills on the xylophone. 🙁
The personalised xylophone is the perfect gift for a special birthday and the gorgeous pine wood and colourful bars looks so beautiful on display in the bedroom. I had both xylophones personalised with the boys’ names, ‘Aron’ and ‘Aidan’, so they will get to treasure their xylophones for life.
And they really enjoyed bashing the xylophones and making very wonderful music in the Preston household! 🙂

What did we like most about the My 1st Years Personalised Wooden Xylophones?
They really do look lovely and the pine wood is very strong and sturdy against the boys’ beating of the bars with the two sticks provided. I love the fact they both have their names on the xylophones too.
What to watch out for:
Unfortunately, this xylophone is not tuned perfectly, so if you wanted to play music with it, it wouldn’t come out very well.
Rating:
4.5 out of 5 – I’m going to be a little harsh with the 0.5 I didn’t award the wooden xylophones because they don’t play properly. But, 4.5 goes to the great quality and lovely packaging provided by My 1st Years, which will guarantee these products to be timeless, sentimental gifts
